Introducing Musings from the Yeo Valley Organic Garden

We’re excited to announce our new weekly Substack from the garden - a brand-new newsletter from Sarah Mead and the garden team, landing every Thursday!

It’s a simple, honest look at life in the garden with updates on what’s growing, what isn’t, what we’re learning and what’s coming up next!

The Substack is a chance to share a little more about what we do here and why we do it, but we also want to hear from other gardeners. The idea is that, over time, this will become somewhere to compare notes, swap ideas and find out what’s happening in gardens beyond our own. In many ways, that’s exactly what the Yeo Valley Organic Garden Festival is about too - bringing people together to talk, share and learn from one another!

Why We Garden Organically

The Yeo Valley Organic Garden has been Soil Association certified for over 20 years. That means no man-made chemicals or fertilisers. Instead, we rely on techniques that work with nature rather than against it - such as making our own compost, leaving seed heads standing for wildlife over winter and letting the garden guide us rather than fighting against it.

It’s not always the tidiest approach, but we believe it’s the right one - for the soil, for nature and for anyone eating what comes out of the veg patch!

The Substack will also keep readers up to date with events, workshops and dates in the garden that you might want to keep an eye on.

What’s on this Summer

Drawn from the Garden - a day of drawing and painting with local artist Natasha Clutterbuck. Upcoming dates include 7th August, 11th September and 2nd October.

The garden is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10am–5pm, right through to the last Saturday in October.
