Nigel Cox

Nigel Cox has worked in horticulture for more than 30 years and has developed extensive experience across education, commercial horticulture, assessment and practical growing. He spent over 20 years as a lecturer at Cannington College, helping to train and inspire the next generation of horticulturists.

During his career, Nigel has worked within the growing media industry, contributing to the development and evaluation of peat-free growing media formulations at a time when sustainable alternatives were becoming increasingly important. He also served for 18 years as a Professional Associate with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), supporting horticultural education and professional development.

Alongside his educational work, Nigel is National Lead Assessor (Lantra) for horticultural apprenticeships across England, helping to maintain professional standards across the industry. In recent years, his interests have increasingly focused on organic and sustainable growing. He has been actively involved in creating a local organic community growing project and is a strong advocate for environmentally responsible gardening practices.

Most recently, Nigel has been working with Cygnet Hospital Sand Bay near Weston-Super-Mare, where he has led the restoration and management of a productive organic growing project designed to support therapeutic horticulture and improve wellbeing through engagement with nature.
