Nigel has been in the horticulture industry for over 30 years both in the education sector and at the same time running his  own horticulture consultancy. Qualified as a garden designer he has been involved in many garden design and builds over the years both with students and on his own account.

During lockdown Nigel spent a lot of time presenting courses online on how horticulture improves mental health and wellbeing and now supports a mental health project at a local hospital. He has produced a range of programmes advocating regenerative principles for growing including proposals for a new Agroecology Farming Apprenticeship.

Since retiring from teaching, he is now focussed on advocating and promoting organic and regenerative practices, lecturing around the country and in his capacity as Lead Assessor for horticulture apprentices at Lantra and as a professional associate at the RHS.

His passion has always been gardens and apart from his own garden he runs a community permaculture project near his home in Somerset and advises on a wide range of other community projects. He is a regular horticulture guru on BBC local radio and now has his own live radio show on GWS local community radio in Glastonbury, where he gets the opportunity to talk to a range of guests involved in the industry. He is also a regular contributor to talks at Yeo Valley Organic Garden.
