Richard Rickitt first learned beekeeping at secondary school, over forty years ago. Following a career in film and television special effects, he now spends most of his time researching, thinking, speaking, and writing about all aspects of bees and beekeeping. He particularly enjoys gardening for bees of all kinds. His book, Beekeeping for Gardeners (Bloomsbury) won the 2024 Living Now, Green Living Award, and was shortlisted for the Garden Media Guild Practical Book of the Year Award. He is editor of the UK national beekeeping magazine, BeeCraft. He lives near Bath.
