Stephanie Mahon is Editor of Gardens Illustrated magazine and host of the Talking Gardens podcast.
She is an award-winning garden writer, having been named Garden Journalist of the Year twice and winner of the Garden Book of the Year for her book Wild Gardens: Inspired by Nature. Stephanie is also editor of the first Gardens Illustrated book, The New Beautiful: Inspiring gardens for a resilient future, which goes on sale on 16 September 2025.
Previously, Stephanie was editor of The English Garden magazine, and the Society of Garden Designers’ Garden Design Journal, as well as relaunching the HTA magazine as Inside Horticulture in 2022. She has written for The Telegraph, The Guardian and The Sunday Times as well as magazines including Country Living and Homes & Gardens. She began her career back home in Ireland as Youth Correspondent for The Irish Times at the age of 17.
Her conversion to gardening took place while on sabbatical in Italy, where she helped create a garden in the ruins of an old castle near Bologna.
She was recently awarded the title of 2024 BSME Editor of the Year, Homes Gardens & Country.
