By passion and profession, Sue is the gardening expert within the Microbz team. Her garden is her happy place, and when not managing the Microbz office or wordsmithing our communications, it’s where you’re most likely to find her.
Inspired from a young age by her father, Sue has a lifelong passion for gardening. She completed a Higher Diploma in Horticulture at Lackham College in 1995 and is a member of Bremhill Vales Farming Group, a local farming cluster. But her real expertise is self-taught. It comes from the many hours that she’s spent creating her own garden - reading, exchanging ideas with fellow enthusiasts and, importantly, testing, learning and watching her own ideas grow.
When Sue and Jeff arrived at Naish House more than 20 years ago, it was a horticultural desert. Under Sue’s direction, they’ve transformed it into the rich landscape that it is today, complete with a stunning pond, wildflower meadow, vegetable patch and orchard, all cultivated from the same healthy soils where they harvest microbes for their business.
“When we found microbes, the connection we felt and the potential of this ‘solution’ for the planet was immediate and expansive. We committed to learning more and quickly turned one of our outbuildings into a mini-brewery. I continue to be amazed by and value more and more the magic of our soils and microbes with them.”
